Parks and Recreation Intern

WAGE AND TERM: Summer 2011
Non-paid but assistance with housing will be made available
May through August 2011 (12 to 16 weeks)

THE OPPORTUNITY: Gain professional work experience with a city of 13,000 people; work on a variety of administrative and special projects, assignments and tasks in support of the Director of Parks and Recreation - projects are mutually agreed upon. Work for the only CAPRA nationally accredited parks and recreation agency in Wyoming (one of only 95 parks and recreation departments in the country to be CAPRA Accredited).

SUPERVISION: Reports to the Director of Parks and Recreation

IDEAL CANDIDATE: Completion of your Junior year with a major in Leisure Studies, Business Administration and/or Parks and Recreation. Previous paid or volunteer recreation experiences desired. Must possess strong computer skills and a valid driver’s license; Undergraduate, Graduate and Doctoral Students are welcome to apply.

SELECTION CRITERIA: Applicants whose experience and training are most closely suited to the needs of the City of Green River Parks and Recreation Department will be selected for interviews. Criteria will be based on knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the position.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or a minimum of three years related sales experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Microsoft Word, Excel, Sales Database and Power Point experience preferred.

Compensation: Draw against commission.

TeamWorks Media - Internship

PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERNSHIP

TeamWorks Media is a sports and entertainment content company in Chicago that offers services such as video production, digital media and integrated marketing. The public relations department is looking for a PR intern to assist the department in a number of activities with a focus on media relations for clients including Crown Imports (St. Pauli Girl, Corona, Pacifico beers), Converse and Levy Restaurants, a restaurant company that provides catering for professional sports teams and events such as the Super Bowl, Grammy Awards and Kentucky Derby.

Ideal Candidate
• Must be a skilled writer and communicator
• Organized and aggressive, with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Knowledge of AP style
• Computer efficient in Microsoft Word/Excel
• Competent researcher (Both online and via phone)

Timing
Start Date: ASAP
Time Requirements: 16-20 hours per week

Responsibilities
• Compile/maintain media databases and targeted media lists
• Assist with developing media materials
• Media relations (follow up phone calls, etc.)
• Assemble press kits
• Contribute to internal brainstorm sessions for clients
• Write news/feature stories for company website
• Manage client PR websites
• Digitize television news clips (will receive training)
• Develop monthly PR reports
• Conducting Internet research
• Manage media library
• Serve as a true member of the PR team

POSITION: Full time

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management & Administration, or related degree desired. Although a degree is preferred, extensive experience in a like position with similar duties may be substituted for all or part of the education preference.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in personnel management/human relations or human resources management.

DUTIES:

OTHER:
• Salary range is $27,000 – $29,000 annually.

• Serve as the League Coordinator, responsible for being the main contact and direct representative of the Tee Ball/Coach Pitch Program.
• Oversee registration, coach team selection, and pre-season meetings.
• Assist in the inventory and distribution of supplies and equipment.
• Assist in the recruiting and hiring of staff along with the scheduling, supervising, and evaluation of part time staff.
• Assist the coaches in the setup/tear-down of practices and games.
• Prepare records and reports including payroll, league/event schedules, evaluations, and marketing materials.
• Additional duties and experience can be gained from assisting in the planning, setup, take down, and administration of events such as: Youth and Adult Tennis Program, Sand Volleyball and Adult Softball Leagues.
• Performing all other duties as assigned.

OTHER:
• Evenings and weekends will be required.
