Job Description: The Akron Aeros offer internships in an array of departments with the organization. MARKETING/PROMOTIONS Full-Time Internships Available: 1 The intern in the Marketing Department will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of that department. Duties will include databasing client information, contacting clients for promotional purposes, help with coordinating daily promotions and assist with in-game promotions and contests. Initiative and creativity is a must. Individual will also be involved in many of the community relations duties, including overseeing donation requests, special event planning, booking national anthem/first pitch participants, arranging player and mascot appearances and assist with in-game promotions. MERCHANDISING Full-Time Internships Available: 2 This internship will provide the student with experience in all aspects of merchandise operations while assisting the Director of Merchandise. The focus of the internship is to assist in managing INFIELD OUTFITTERS, the Akron Aeros team shop. Day-to-day duties include merchandise and ticket sales from INFIELD OUTFITTERS, stocking, inventory control, local and national advertising, mail order, website maintenance, employee supervision and various gameday functions. While performing these duties, the individual will become familiar with all Akron Aeros and Canal Park policies, licensing policies and licensed vendors and pricing of merchandise and retail marketing. Working in the “live” environment of INFIELD OUTFITTERS forces the individual to learn by doing and will provide valuable experience for future employment. FOOD SERVICE Full-Time Internships Available: 3 Those candidates selected for the food service internship with Aerofare will gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience with how the day-to-day supervision and operation of a food service company works. Interns will work closely with Aerofare management and assist in, but not limited to, the following responsibilities: ordering, receiving, stocking, inventory control, overseeing a workforce of 100+ people, sales reports, monitoring sales percentages and per caps, and vendor relations. The primary focus for Aerofare includes a commitment to quality, ensuring the highest level of customer service, and creating/sustaining a fun environment for our employees and customers. Throughout the internship experience each intern will gain the knowledge needed to help with future success in employment and career opportunities. STADIUM OPERATIONS/GROUNDSKEEPING Full-Time Internships Available: 6 This internship works closely with the Director of Field and Stadium Operations in maintaining general stadium cleanliness, general stadium maintenance, and field/grounds maintenance. . TICKET OPERATIONS Full-Time Internships Available: 7 Interns in the Ticket Operations Department will receive a well-rounded experience within all areas of ticket sales, including individual game operations, group sales and season ticket administration. This internship allows for more person-to-person contact where strong communication skills, as well as attention to detail are necessary. All interns assist full-time staff members in a large number of tasks and help the department works as a team to reach organizational goals. Interns will learn the computerized ticketing system and will assist in supervising game-day ticketing employees. Other responsibilities may include telemarketing, planning the annual picnic for season ticket holders, controlling season ticket usage and incentive programs, organizing group sales programs and involvement in the day-to-day operations of the ticket office. Overall, there are more entry-level positions in ticket operations than in any other front office department in sports. The opportunity is greater for interns in ticket operations to “get their foot in the door” than interns in other departments. Finally, due to the number of interns taken in ticket operations a certain “camaraderie” exists which always makes for a summer of close friends and fun. TEAM PHOTOGRAPHER Full-Time Internships Available: 1 The photography internship position was created to allow students to gain a competitive edge through excellent experiences as a sports photography professional. The intern will assist our veteran game-day action photographer and be responsible for player/mascot outings, Aeros special events and various other projects that may be assigned. The team photographer will also have the opportunity to help with the Aeros official website (www.akronaeros.com) and assist with all aspects of the photography business, including shoot assistance, shoot planning, stock photography file management, image cleaning and manipulation with Photoshop, general office work and more. Intern will have the opportunity to add to their personal portfolio, while earning professional field experience. Requirements: Personal digital camera (with multiple lenses), a solid and extensive portfolio, knowledge of Photoshop and digital photography (skills such as Flash is preferred). This is a quality position that will give you the experience you need to succeed in your future endeavors and help build your portfolio in regards to the professional sports industry. GAME DAY INTERNS Available: 5 For those students who do not receive a full-time internship with the Akron Aeros or cannot accept a full-time position for whatever reason, we do offer part-time internships, or GAME DAY INTERNSHIPS. Should you choose to be a game day intern, you are expected to work every Aeros home game. You must be ready for work two hours prior to game time (5:00 p.m. or 11:30 p.m. on most occasions). You must work until the conclusion of that evening’s ballgame and remain for any additional duties, if necessary. Your duties will include, but are not limited to, administrative duties, working the customer service gazebo, speed pitch, mascot operations, assisting during in-game promotions, pre and post-game handouts, suite level assistance, tarp pulling and stadium maintenance.
Job Requirements: No prior baseball experience is required. We consider and hire interns from an array of majors and colleges. [Top] [Jobs]
