Illinois Campus Recreation - WELLNESS Internship

Wellness Services Internship Expectations:

POSITION PURPOSE: Position responsibilities include assisting the Assistant Director of Wellness Services in various administrative responsibilities for the operation of programs within the area of Wellness Services. day to day management of Wellness Services; through the Group Fitness, Instructional Kitchen and UI Wellness Center Partnership. The Wellness Intern will primarily assist with data collection, event planning, Instructional Kitchen maintenance, program supervision and Kitchen monitor responsibilities.

TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Development Opportunities:
• Create Budget tracking Binder reflecting all aspects of the Wellness Services area: Instructional Kitchen; groups, classes, programs, Group Fitness; programs/outreach, Pass/Yoga Mat Sales, headcounts, Wellness 101, Wellness Breaks, Livewell/Learnwell and Survey data.
• Work with UI Wellness Campus initiatives and partners
• Enter data into Wellness Services Database/Analyze Data to reflect impact and outcome affecting Students, Campus Recreation users and those participating in UI Wellness initiative-directed programs.
• Address any patrons’ concerns when opportunities arise.
• Work Kitchen Monitor Events/Programs.
• Maintain Instructional Kitchen
• Assist with any requested education /training on UI Campus
• Increase diversity in Wellness Services programs.
• Other duties as assigned.

2. Practice proper safety procedures:
• Respond to any injuries and complete the proper documentation.
• Up-to-date certifications in CPR/AED/BBP/First-Aid.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to be highly organized and have good planning skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and those with special needs or limitations.
• Familiarity with all Campus Recreation policies and procedures.
• Willingness to learn about every aspect of Wellness Services

TIME COMMITMENT: The Wellness Services Intern will work a variety of different hours depending on the time of the year and the number of events and programs scheduled. The Assistant Director of Wellness Services will set the expected scheduled hours before the semester begins. A fifteen (15) minute break is not a state, nor a federal mandated rule. However, it is University protocol that we honor the 15-minute break for each 4-hour shift worked (including back-to-back shifts). EVALUATIONS: Performed by the Assistant Director of Wellness Services and when necessary, the Assistant Director of HR Student Development.

COMPENSATION: $0-Internship 320 hours must be completed
